An Antiques Roadshow guest was left gobsmacked after learning that his rare collection of Lewis Hamilton memorabilia could be worth up to £10,000 at auction. Despite the eye-watering valuation, the unnamed guest declared he has no intention of selling the treasured items.
The Collection: Rare Lewis Hamilton F1 Memorabilia
During Sunday's (July 13) episode of the BBC hit show, which originally aired in 2023, expert Hilary Kay examined the sporting memorabilia brought in by the guest. The collection included a VIP pass to a meet-and-greet event, as well as a helmet and overalls actually worn by Hamilton himself during the 2008 season. That year marked a historic milestone for the racing legend, as he secured his maiden Formula One world championship title, making the items particularly significant.
Alongside the equipment, the guest presented a lanyard and VIP pass from the memorable day. He explained that he had been too young to attend the event himself, but his father managed to obtain these special keepsakes, which are now in his possession.
Expert Valuation Leaves Guest Speechless
Hilary Kay informed the guest that the entire collection could fetch up to £10,000 at auction, should he choose to sell. Understandably, the guest appeared stunned by the valuation. "Wow, that's a lot more than I expected," he responded, visibly taken aback.
Hilary replied: "The great thing is, your dad has passed his enthusiasm on to you. You are going to look after this collection and hopefully you are going to add to it."
Guest Vows to Keep Collection
Despite the high valuation, the guest said he had no plans of letting it go. "I would hope so. It would be nice to get the opportunity to (add to the collection). But I'll definitely keep a hold of this for the foreseeable future and hopefully add to it," he said.
Hilary concluded: "Thanks so much for bringing it in, it's been great."
