Alison Hammond supported by fans after panic attack update

Alison Hammond has been flooded with support after an update was shared following her recent health worries. The TV star was rushed off the set of This Morning on Friday, October 2 after suffering a panic attack.

Dermot O'Leary and Alison host Friday's programme, while Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley present the ITV daytime show for the rest of the week. Alison left the broadcast after an hour into the programme on Friday. Dermot explained her absence, and later said she wouldn't be returning to the show today.

He said: "Welcome back to This Morning, Alison is feeling a little unwell, so she's just had to duck out. Hopefully she'll be back."

Hospital check and diagnosis

Alison later confirmed she was in hospital and was having her heart checked after suffering a "little bit of a palpitation". Alison informed her Instagram followers that she is on the mend, and thanked fans for their love and support.

The 51-year-old later said she suffered a panic attack. She said: "I'm home. I'm safe and I'm feeling so much better."

Alison thanked the care team at the NHS who looked after her, adding: "I'm all okay. It's all clear, which would mean I had a massive panic attack on live TV. The shame of it."

"But it felt very real to me. I'm new to panic attacks so I need to learn more about it but I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone at This Morning who looked after me. This is a new world to me. I'm going to take stock, get some rest and I'll see you soon."

Fans show support

In a recent update, Alison's make-up artist shared some snaps of the TV presenter ahead of the most recent episode of the Great British Bake Off, which was pre-recorded earlier this year. Alison looked glamorous as her long dark hair was styled and she complemented her denim top with gold jewellery and a watch.

Fans flooded the comments with love and supportive messages. One said: "Keep strong." A second said: "You're too precious to all of as. Wishing you the best health from now on."

A third said: "You're a beauty in every way, so grateful you're feeling much better. You're so adored!" A fourth added: "Hope you're taking it easy and resting up. Sending love." A fifth said: "You're looking fabulous! Glad you are ok."

Career and on-air incident

Alison has become a familiar face on screens, after first rising to fame on Big Brother before going onto present This Morning, The Great British Bake Off and For The Love of Dogs.

During Friday's episode of This Morning, fans watched as Alison left the set half-way through. During a phone-in from pet owners with Dr Scott, there appeared to be problems in the studio as the camera caught Dermot helping Alison out of the studio, while Dr Scott looked concerned.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1 and ITVX.
