Jamie Hamilton, a 37-year-old business owner from Tyneside, became a father for the first time on Father's Day, June 21, 2026. His daughter, Hallie Rea Hamilton, was born at the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) at 10:48 AM via C-section, weighing exactly 7 pounds. The baby arrived two days after her due date, which was on Friday.
A Father's Day Surprise
Jamie, who runs his own drainage business, expressed his joy: "I'm ecstatic to be honest, absolutely over the moon. For her to come on Father's Day, I always thought she'd come today, her due date was Friday so we waited a couple of days." He praised his partner Sarah for her bravery during the delivery, noting her fear of needles and operations. "Sarah was so brave, she's really terrified of needles and operations but she did really well and I couldn't be more proud of her. The surgeons made her feel comfortable and just looked after her," he said.
Family and Homecoming
Both mother and baby are doing well, and Jamie hopes the family will return home on Monday night. The nursery is already prepared, with Jamie noting, "There's a lot of hard work gone into that." The grandparents did not wait for the homecoming; both mothers visited the ward on Sunday to meet their first granddaughter. Jamie shared his excitement: "I'm so excited for my mum, my brother had a baby boy last year. She's got one of each now, and Sarah's mum is in the same boat!"
A 'Little Miracle Baby'
Jamie concluded, "I'm really, really excited to be a dad, she (Hallie) is just like a little miracle baby." The family is looking forward to starting their new life together.
