As the team at Erth gears up for an immersive new dinosaur production at the Sydney Opera House, starting on 8 April, they offer a rare glimpse into their puppetry workshop in Marrickville. For over 35 years, Erth has been captivating audiences worldwide with live dinosaur shows that blend art, design, and technology.
Mastering Realism in Puppetry
Artistic director Scott Wright explains that Erth operates in the uncanny valley, crafting puppets so lifelike they suspend disbelief. This approach involves meticulous attention to detail, from the scale of the creatures to their realistic movements, achieved through collaboration with artists from diverse creative backgrounds.
