Stephen Graham's New Book After Adolescence Features A-Listers

Stephen Graham, the acclaimed actor behind Netflix's record-breaking series Adolescence, has announced a new project: a book titled Letters to Our Sons, featuring contributions from a host of A-list celebrities. The book, co-edited with psychology lecturer Orly Klein, collects letters from fathers around the world to their sons, exploring themes of masculinity, fatherhood, and emotional expression.

Star-Studded Contributor Lineup

The book includes letters from actors Danny Dyer, Javier Bardem, Daniel Mays, Michael Socha, Ashley Walters, and Riz Ahmed. Sporting figures such as Olympic champion Tom Daley, footballers Chris Kamara and Jamie Redknapp also contribute, alongside writer Jack Thorne, comedian Romesh Ranganathan, presenter Jeff Brazier, musician Goldie, educator Matthew Burton, and documentary-maker Louis Theroux.

From Adolescence to Fatherhood

Graham revealed that his work on Adolescence, which sparked national debate about toxic masculinity and social media's impact on youth, made him recognize a greater need for communication between fathers and sons. Speaking to the BBC, he said: 'We want to hear from men of all ages, first-time fathers, absent fathers, fathers who've been there but never truly been there, fathers who've lost and fathers who just want to find a way to say I love you.'

Book Details and Release

Letters to Our Sons is due for release on Thursday, September 24. Signed copies are available for pre-order at most bookshops. The blurb reads: 'What advice do you wish you'd shared before your son's first day at school? When he missed or scored that goal? Or the day he left home? When was the last time you hugged him? And what would you do if you had your time again?'

Adolescence's Historic Impact

Adolescence made history as the first streaming series to top the Barb Audiences weekly television ratings. The psychological crime drama prompted calls for change and was made freely available to schools across the UK. Speculation about a second series has been ongoing, with Deadline Hollywood reporting in April 2025 that Netflix and Plan B Entertainment had entered into discussions.
