Sadie Clayton serves as an expert judge on the new BBC series Race Against the Tide, which premiered on BBC iPlayer on August 17. The six-part competition sees teams of two battle to build the most spectacular sand sculptures in just six hours before the tide rolls in.
Who is Sadie Clayton?
Sadie is a 35-year-old artist specialising in copper sculptures. She describes herself as a cultural communicator, sculptor and fashion academic. Born in West Yorkshire, she now lives in east London with her husband and two-year-old son. She married her partner three years ago, having been together since she was 17.
TV appearances and other ventures
Her past TV appearances include as a contestant on Sky Arts series Landmark and as a judge on CBBC's Britain's Best Young Artist. Alongside her art, she runs her own kidswear brand, Playing Out, launched earlier this year.
Addressing her casting, she told the BBC: "It was a real honour to be asked to do this show. Having pivoted my career from being a fashionista that made sculptures for the body, where the body was my canvas and very much fusing fashion and art, to then solely now only working in the art world with my sculptures, this felt like another career highlight."
How to watch
All episodes of Race Against the Tide are now streaming on BBC iPlayer. Episodes will also air on BBC Two from tomorrow at 7.30pm.
