Nicollette Sheridan, known for her role as Edie Britt in Desperate Housewives, was taken to hospital after a dog accident left her with third degree rope burns around her ankle. The 62-year-old actress shared the details in an Instagram video, explaining that she was playing with her dog when the incident occurred.
Distracted Moment Leads to Injury
In the video, Sheridan recounted that she was distracted at the time, upset by others being rude. She said: "Good morning. I'd like to share a story with you about a little mishap that occurred and the lesson that came along with it. So about five days ago, I was distracted. I was upset by others being rude. I took it to heart and was not present, I was stuck in my head and trying to understand other people's behaviour."
She explained that she was playing ball with her dog, Huckleberry, who weighs 100lbs. A long line was attached to him so she could retrieve him if he ran off. As she threw the ball, the rope wrapped around her ankle, and when the dog took off, she was unable to free herself in time.
Injury and Recovery
Sheridan described bracing herself for pain and suffering third degree rope burns. She mentioned using Manuka honey on the burns to prevent infection and noted that she did go to the emergency room, where medical staff were pleased with her healing progress. She said: "I did go to the emergency room the other day and they said 'You're doing a great job, it's not infected, you'll be fine.' It's just three weeks. Three weeks hopping around. That's okay."
In her caption, she encouraged fans to "stay present" and "live in gratitude", adding: "Be aware. Use your intelligence. Choose happiness and kindness..."
Fan Support
Fans responded with well wishes in the comments, with one writing: "So difficult but so necessary to stay in the moment. Things happen to tell us to take it slow and get grounded, glad you are ok." Another said: "What a beautiful message about being present. I’m glad you and huckleberry are doing well."
