BBC Radio 2 presenter Jo Whiley has revealed she was so spooked by a hotel room while staying at Glastonbury that she knew she could not spend the night there. The 61-year-old was chatting to Zoe Ball on their Dig It podcast about ghosts when she recalled the creepy experience at an "old hotel" while working at the festival one year.
Bad vibes in an old hotel room
Jo admitted she does not really believe in the supernatural but said she immediately got a horrible feeling when she entered one particular room. She said: "We went to do Glastonbury, and there was a really lovely old hotel, but there's one particular room, and I got in there and I was like, 'I can't spend a night in here'.
"And I don't really believe in these things, but I was just scared in the room. It felt bad, it felt really bad."
Things got even creepier when Jo decided to investigate the history of the room and discovered she is not the only one who found it eerie. She added: "And when I looked it up, there was a history of the supernatural in this hotel in this particular room. So yeah, never seen anything, but definitely felt bad vibes."
Son Jude's vivid descriptions
Jo has also been left seriously freaked out by something her son Jude experienced when he was just a young boy. She explained that she had taken him to see a homeopath, who asked him questions about what he saw and dreamed about at night.
She said: "He started talking about all these people that he saw in the house when nobody else was around. And he just, he went into such vivid descriptions of strangers in the house and how he'd have conversations with them. He could see them all the time, but nobody else could see them."
Jo admitted she was left baffled by what her son was describing, saying: "And I was sitting there in the homeopath just looking at him going, 'what the hell?' And it really freaked me out."
Looking over her shoulder at home
She said Jude had never spoken about the people before and appeared completely convinced by what he was saying. Jo added: "He was talking about it with such conviction at the time that I was so freaked by it, I really was."
The experience even left her feeling uneasy back at home. She said: "I went back to the house and I just kept looking over my shoulder every time I went into a room, like, 'is this the room? Are you the people you hear now?'"
While Jo has never actually seen a ghost, she said she has "definitely felt bad vibes."
