Foo Fighters are set to perform at Anfield Stadium for the second time on Saturday, June 27, wrapping up their two-night stand at the home of Liverpool FC. The American rock band, fronted by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, delivered a high-energy debut on Thursday, June 25, featuring hits like All My Life, The Pretender, and Best Of You.
ECHO entertainment reporter Ryan Paton attended the first show and said: "Ahead of the gig, I must confess I wasn't a Foo Fighters devotee and didn't know too much of their music beyond their greatest hits. However, it's impossible to not be swept up in the energy of a Foo Fighters gig, as the band's stirring riffs and rousing lyrics combine to provide the sort of cathartic experience that only live music can offer. It's easy to see why Foo Fighters have developed such a revered reputation as one of the most reliable live bands out there, as the show hit all the beats a gig should."
Stage Times and Setlist
Doors open at 4pm BST. Support acts include Die Spitz (4:45pm-5:15pm) and Royel Otis (5:45pm-6:45pm). Foo Fighters are scheduled to take the stage from 7:15pm to 10:15pm. The setlist from night one included 27 songs, such as Times Like These, My Hero, Learn to Fly, Everlong, and a snippet of Motörhead's Ace of Spades. The band also performed a solo acoustic version of Under You and dedicated The Teacher to Virginia Grohl.
Fan Reactions and Travel
Fans traveled from across the UK and abroad. Marissa and Diana Tounshen journeyed from Portland and Illinois, taking an eight-hour flight, two-hour train, and 1 hour 45-minute taxi to Liverpool. Jill Gardner from London and Karen Foozie from San Diego—who has seen Foo Fighters about 60 times—attended both shows. Karen said: "They're great people and I love their songs and their fans are great. We call it the foo family."
For travel, Merseyrail's Northern Line serves Sandhills and Kirkdale stations, both less than a 30-minute walk from Anfield. The 917 express shuttle bus runs from Commutation Row in the city centre (£5 single, £6 return). No parking is available at the stadium.
