The curtain will drop on Fenwick's 2026 Window display on Sunday, November 1, marking the official start of Christmas in Newcastle. Invited guests will gather to witness the big moment in person, while the general public can watch the reveal live on the Fenwick YouTube channel.
A Beloved North East Tradition
Fenwick's Window is a cherished part of Christmas in Newcastle, alongside the Life Centre's ice rink, a Greggs Festive Bake, or a trip to a pantomime. For decades, generations of families across the North East have visited the famous displays at the Northumberland Street department store.
Historically, themes have included Camberwick Green and Pinocchio, while in recent years crowds have flocked to see displays inspired by Paddington, Beatrix Potter, The Snowman, and many more. Last year's Christmas Carol window was widely considered the best in some time.
The Big Reveal
Shortly after 6.30pm, the theme that has been taking shape behind the billboards at Fenwick for the last few weeks will be revealed. The theme is a closely guarded secret, with a compound built around the window overnight to keep it under wraps.
Only invited guests will witness the moment in the flesh. The general public can tune into the Fenwick YouTube channel for the magical moment, and this blog will provide build-up, speculation, photos, and the big reveal itself.
