Bramhall Park: A Historic Gem in Greater Manchester

As the UK enters its third heatwave of the year, with temperatures in Manchester forecast to reach 30°C, Bramhall Park offers an ideal escape. Located between Cheadle Hulme and Hazel Grove, this 70-acre parkland features the historic Bramall Hall, a Tudor manor house with black and white timber-framing. The park is open to the public, with free entry to the grounds, making it perfect for a balmy summer evening stroll.

Bramall Hall: Centuries of History

The manor house, run by Stockport Council, dates back to the 14th century, with additions from the 16th and 19th centuries. Visitors can book guided tours to see 16th-century wall paintings, an Elizabethan plaster ceiling, Victorian kitchens, and servants' quarters. The hall is open Thursdays to Sundays from 11am to 4:30pm, with guided tours every Friday and Sunday at 2pm. Tickets cost £7 for adults, £5.50 for concessions (60+ and students), and free for children under 16 with a paying adult and Stockport Leisure Key holders.

Restoration Project Nearing Completion

Bramall Hall is nearing the end of a major restoration project, due to be completed by autumn 2026. Supported by £1.6 million from the Arts Council England's Museums Estates Development Fund, vital repairs began in 2024. According to Stockport Council, the final stage of the roof restoration is underway. During this time, guided tours continue, but some room displays have been altered and The Solar is closed due to roof work.
