Big Ben and Houses of Parliament Crowned UK's Best View in New Poll
Big Ben and Houses of Parliament Top UK Best Views Poll

Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament have been crowned the UK's best view, according to a poll of 2,000 Brits. The London landmarks topped the list with 38% of respondents selecting them as the most iconic sites, citing their instantly recognisable silhouette and postcard-worthy setting.

Tower Bridge and Other Top Contenders

Tower Bridge followed closely behind in second place, with voters praising its famous landmark status and international fame, which helped cement the capital's dominance in the national ranking. The research, commissioned by Samsung ahead of its Galaxy Unpacked event in London on July 22, also uncovered favourites from other UK regions, including Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland (21%), Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh (13%), and St Michael's Mount in Cornwall (12%).

Other popular picks include the natural arch of Durdle Door in Dorset (12%), the rugged Cheddar Gorge in Somerset (12%), and the hidden gem Glencoe, Scotland (10%).

Social Media's Influence on Travel

Nearly half of respondents (49%) admitted they have travelled to an area primarily because they had seen photos or videos of it online, with social media the most likely platform to inspire those trips (64%). For younger Brits, the internet is no longer just inspiring the itinerary—it is setting it. 80% of younger Brits have visited somewhere after seeing it online, more than three times the number of Boomers (25%). They are also over four times more likely to seek out iconic city skylines when travelling (25% vs 6%).

Photo Editing Preferences

The findings, conducted to spotlight Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7 and its Photo Assist feature, revealed that 28% of amateur photographers would find the ability to remove people from photo backgrounds most useful, while 24% valued removing unwanted objects from their pictures. The feature makes it easier to eliminate background distractions, catering to the desire for more control when capturing iconic views.
