Thousands of fans dressed in elaborate homemade costumes gathered at Exhibition Centre Liverpool on Saturday, October 10, as one of Europe's biggest pop culture conventions returned to the city. The two-day celebration of sci-fi, fantasy, comic books, video games, anime and manga, and all things “geeky” arrived this morning, inviting attendees to meet some of their favourite actors and pop culture icons.
Stars due to appear
Major stars scheduled to appear over the weekend include Jude Law, David Harbour and Christopher Lloyd. This weekend's event is the second in the Liverpool Comic Con's annual calendar, following an earlier convention in May that also welcomed thousands of visitors in costumes representing their favourite video game, television and film characters.
Fans show their creativity
A collection of pictures from this year's Comic Con events showcases the creativity of the fans. Among the costumes captured were Ghost Rider, Master Chief from the Halo video game series, an Alien face-hugger, Red Hood, and characters from One Piece, The X-Men, Spider-Man, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare-inspired Simon “Ghost” Riley.
Other attendees dressed as He-Man and Man-At-Arms, Captain Jack Sparrow, Stormtroopers, and characters from Star Wars, The Terminator, Back to the Future, The Handmaid's Tale, Star Trek, and Stranger Things. Local radio personality Pete Price was also pictured with attendees, including Obelix from Asterix comics and The Terminator.
Celebrity guests and crowd shots
Actor Steven Ogg, who played Trevor in Grand Theft Auto V, and actor Zach Galligan from the Gremlins movie were among the guests spotted at the event. Additional costumes included characters from Arcane, The Last of Us, Bungo Stray Dogs, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Fire Emblem, Overwatch, Toy Story, The Boys, Deltarune, The Legend of Zelda, Dr Who, Alice in Wonderland, The Muppets, and Hazbin Hotel.
