The Scottish Maritime Museum on Irvine Harbourside is bringing back its popular Glass Workshops with a fresh programme of Summer sessions, running from July 1 to August 29.
Workshop Details and Schedule
The sessions run from 1pm to 3pm on Wednesdays and 10am to 12noon on Saturdays. Designed to suit everyone, from absolute beginners to seasoned glass artists, the workshops offer the chance to shape molten glass using a live flame and take creations home.
The workshops take place in the stunning, glass-roofed Linthouse. They have been developed in collaboration with Robert McLeod, a Fellow of The British Society of Scientific Glassblowers, who provides expert guidance and shares the story of the endangered craft of flameworking, also known as scientific glassblowing.
Expert Guidance and Safety
Eva Bukowska, exhibitions and events officer at the Scottish Maritime Museum, said: “We’re delighted to bring back our hugely popular glass sessions led by our friendly and highly skilled glassblowing expert Robert. Never worked with glass before? No problem! Robert will help participants of all experience levels every step of the way in a safe and welcoming environment.”
Bukowska added: “Flameworking is mesmerising to watch and even more magical to experience first-hand! It’s the perfect creative and inspiring experience to enjoy or gift to friends and family this Summer! Tickets sell quickly so we encourage people to book early!”
Pricing and Booking
Workshops are priced at £60 per person. Places can be booked on Eventbrite. All sessions are limited to two participants to ensure safety and the best experience.
