Bradford Crash: Two Dead, Car Plunges 100ft, Man Arrested

A fundraising campaign has been launched in memory of Imath Uddin Choudhury, 23, who died after a car plunged 100 feet off the edge of a road in Bradford, West Yorkshire. The incident occurred on Hawksworth Road in Baildon, near the junction with Potter Brow Road, at around 7:24 pm on Monday, June 22. A 20-year-old individual also died at the scene.

Arrest and Injuries

The driver, a 24-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. A 23-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries, according to West Yorkshire Police. The Audi A3 convertible left the road and plummeted down the embankment.

Fundraiser Exceeds Target

The Grains of Hope Foundation set up a JustGiving fundraiser in memory of Choudhury, which has already exceeded its £2,000 target as of Wednesday. The foundation stated: "In memory of Imad, Grains of Hope Foundation is raising funds to support the most needy families in The Gambia and provide water pumps in Pakistan, helping those in need while creating a source of ongoing reward for him, by the will of Allah."

The foundation added: "May Allah forgive Imath Choudhury, grant him Jannatul Firdaus, widen and illuminate his grave, and make every donation a means of Sadaqah Jariyah for him. Ameen."

Separate Tragedy: Teen Dies in River Wye

In a separate incident, an 18-year-old boy died after entering the River Wye while on a Duke of Edinburgh expedition. His body was discovered on Tuesday evening following a multi-agency rescue operation in Glasbury, Powys. The Duke of Edinburgh's Award confirmed the teenager was on an expedition when the incident occurred.

A DofE spokesperson said: "We are deeply saddened to confirm that a young person has drowned while on a DofE expedition in Powys, Wales. Our thoughts are with the young person's family, together with all those who were taking part. We will do everything we can to support them at this difficult time."
