A University of Alabama student who posted videos using racial slurs has been expelled from the university and removed from her sorority. Harley Barber, 19, repeatedly used the N-word in two Instagram videos, sparking widespread outrage.
University President Stuart R. Bell announced the expulsion, stating, 'The actions of this student do not represent the larger student body or the values of our University, and she is no longer enrolled here.' Alpha Phi sorority also revoked her membership.
In the videos, Barber, originally from New Jersey, boasted about being in Alpha Phi and used the racial slur multiple times. She later apologised, saying, 'I feel horrible. I feel so, so bad and I am so sorry.'
Barber had previously expressed support for President Donald Trump on social media. The university condemned her behaviour as 'hateful, ignorant and offensive'.
