A former university classmate of Claudia Winkleman has shed light on her student days, revealing that she was a prominent figure on campus despite her own claims to the contrary. Stuart Murphy, a former BBC 3 controller who studied alongside Winkleman at the University of Cambridge, shared his recollections in the documentary 'Claudia Winkleman: Behind the Fringe'.
Murphy described Winkleman as 'eccentric, funny, super smart' and noted that she would often 'hold court' at parties before leaving early. He dismissed her version of events that she was not a big noise around campus, stating, 'That is simply not the case.' Winkleman, who studied art history, has previously joked about sleeping on the floor to accommodate a sunbed in her student accommodation.
Meanwhile, recent 'The Traitors' co-winner Jake Brown expressed surprise at how 'normal' Winkleman is off-screen, saying she is 'even better than she appears on TV.' Co-winner Leanne Quigley praised her as 'the perfect host' with a big heart, while former contestant Paul Gorton described her as 'a full-on stand-up comedian' and 'the funniest, driest person.'
Winkleman, 54, has become a beloved figure on 'The Traitors' since its 2022 debut, captivating audiences with her dramatic presentation and wry observations. Despite the show's massive popularity, she admitted in an interview with Grazia magazine that she never expected such success, saying, 'We didn't foresee this.'
