Two young learners from West Lothian were among the standout winners celebrated at the British Youth International College (BYITC) Inspire Awards 2026 – Achievers Spotlight. The special ceremony, judged by Mrs Rohini Sharma Joshi OBE, Mr Kiran Sagar, Mr Harminder Berman, and Mr Charan Gill MBE, brought together over 100 attendees to recognise the achievements of 29 students from across the UK and Ireland in three categories: the She Power Awards, International Maths Olympiad, and Abacus Programme graduation.
Winners from West Lothian
The winners included Shreenithy Sampathkumar, 11, who attends Holy Family RC Primary School in Winchburgh, a Maths Olympiad winner and recipient of the Shakuntala Mantri Exceptional Award, and Tejas Mittal, 12, who attends Calderwood Primary School, an Abacus graduate.
Parental Pride
Shreenithy’s parents, Sampath Krishnasamy and Sasi Periyasamy, said: “Watching Shreenithy grow through the years has been nothing short of remarkable. BYITC has not only strengthened her love for numbers but transformed it into a powerful skill set that continues to shape her future with confidence and opportunity.”
Founder's Praise
Dr Rashmi Mantri, Founder of BYITC, said: “It was fantastic to see such a strong representation from West Lothian at this year’s Inspire Awards. These young learners have shown exceptional dedication not only in developing their maths and academic skills, but also in building confidence, leadership, and determination. They are wonderful role models for other children in the community.”
Categories and Achievements
The Inspire Awards ceremony recognised achievements across multiple disciplines, with pupils excelling in both the 9th International Maths Olympiad and BYITC’s Supermaths Abacus programme, as well as demonstrating leadership and creativity through the She Power Awards. The event, supported by sponsors Kiran Sagar and Saravanaa Bhavan, celebrated not only individual success but the importance of community, family support, and inspiring young minds to reach their full potential.
