Coleen Rooney has announced that her son Kai has passed all of his GCSEs, as the Manchester United youngster continues to juggle his studies with his blossoming footballing career.
The 16 year old marked GCSE results day alongside his beaming mum, who took to Instagram to share a photo of the two of them grinning together in her car.
Accompanying the snapshot, Coleen wrote: "GCSE results day! ! Super proud @kairooney.10 ....Great results especially with a busy schedule, all passed and a place in 6th form!! We love you."
Balancing Education and Football
It represents yet another landmark moment for Kai, who is striving to strike the right balance between his academic education and his aspirations of following in the footsteps of his dad, Manchester United icon Wayne Rooney.
Wayne himself never sat his GCSEs at Kai's age, having had to take his education into his own hands while his football career was taking off at Everton and Manchester United, reports Wales Online.
He previously told BBC Sport: "It's no secret that I didn't even take GCSEs but I think people assume because of that that I'm not educated, which is really wrong. I made a conscious effort when I was at Everton and Manchester United to educate myself in a lot of different things, such as black history and religion.
"The reason I did that was because I wanted to hold conversations with my team-mates who are from different backgrounds. That was something I did to help me with my team-mates and help understand how they have been brought up. That's probably something people don't understand about me."
Academy Progression and Injury Return
Teenager Kai, meanwhile, has been part of United's academy since returning to the club at the age of 11 and took another important step in his football development last month when he signed a first-year scholarship contract.
That deal allows Kai to continue his education while progressing through United's academy, with the next major milestone expected to come when he turns 17 and becomes eligible to sign a professional contract.
Kai's footballing progress was interrupted last season when he suffered a season-ending injury in March, ruling him out of United Under-18s' FA Youth Cup final against Manchester City.
He had enjoyed a breakthrough campaign before the setback, making his debut for Darren Fletcher's under-18s at the age of 15 and scoring twice while providing an assist in six Premier League Under-18 appearances.
He also made his first appearance at Old Trafford last season, playing 21 minutes in United's FA Youth Cup fourth-round victory over Derby County.
The forward returned to action last week after completing his rehabilitation, featuring in United's squad for the Otten Cup in Eindhoven.
Kai announced his return on Instagram with the caption: "First game back from injury. PSV (A)."
United lost 1-0 to hosts PSV in their opening game of the tournament, with Kai also part of a 23-man squad that included Jacey Carrick, son of former United midfielder and current first-team manager Michael Carrick.
Future Prospects and Scrutiny
The teenager's return comes at an important stage of his development, with United expected to make significant use of him at Under-18 level during the new campaign.
Kai has also had to deal with the scrutiny that comes with being the son of one of United's greatest-ever players.
Coleen previously defended her eldest son after he was criticised online by people who suggested his progress had been helped by his famous surname.
The teenager, however, has continued to make his own strides within the academy.
He has moved away from the central striker role occupied by his father during his playing career and has increasingly operated from the wing, where he can cut inside onto his stronger left foot.
The next target will be to build on his successful return from injury and establish himself as a regular for United's Under-18s.
