Police Intervene as Multiple Fights Erupt at Stoke-on-Trent School
Staffordshire Police officers were forced to remove both children and parents from a secondary school in Stoke-on-Trent after a series of violent altercations broke out on the premises. The incident occurred at St Thomas More Catholic Academy, located on Longton Hall Road in Longton, on Monday afternoon.
Three Separate Altercations Reported
According to eyewitness reports and footage from the scene, three distinct fights erupted within the school grounds, prompting immediate police response. Officers were dispatched to the academy at approximately 2:30 PM on March 9th following emergency calls reporting a physical confrontation involving pupils.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police confirmed the details, stating: "We were called to a school on Longton Hall Road following a report of a fight involving pupils. Officers attended the scene and removed those involved from the site, including parents who had turned up. Nobody was reported injured."
Parents Among Those Removed from Premises
In an unusual development, police confirmed that parents who had arrived at the school during or after the incidents were also removed from the property alongside the pupils involved in the fighting. This suggests that the situation escalated beyond student conflicts, potentially involving adult intervention or additional disturbances.
The police statement specifically noted that "parents who had turned up" were among those escorted from the school site, indicating that the response extended beyond managing student behavior to address broader campus security concerns.
Appeal for Witnesses and Information
Following the incident, Staffordshire Police have launched a formal appeal for witnesses to come forward with any information about the fights. Authorities are asking anyone with relevant details to contact them on the non-emergency number 101, quoting incident reference 459 of March 9th.
Alternatively, individuals can provide anonymous information through the independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555111. The police investigation aims to establish the full circumstances surrounding the multiple altercations and identify all parties involved.
St Thomas More Catholic Academy, which serves secondary school students in the Longton area of Stoke-on-Trent, has not yet released an official statement regarding the incidents or any subsequent disciplinary actions. The school day concluded without further reported disturbances following the police intervention.
