Angelina Jolie has visited the Egyptian side of the Rafah Crossing to witness the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, according to an AFP video released on Wednesday. The Oscar-winning actress was seen speaking with aid workers and touring the border area.
Local press reported that Jolie observed the condition of injured Palestinians being transferred to Egypt. TRT World noted that she spoke with members of the Red Crescent and truck drivers delivering aid into Gaza. A Red Crescent volunteer told Jolie that “there are thousands of aid trucks just waiting” at the crossing.
The Rafah Crossing is the only border point between Egypt and Gaza, and has been crucial for aid delivery since the conflict began after the October 7, 2023 attacks. Despite a ceasefire, humanitarian needs remain acute, with the Hamas-run health ministry reporting at least 70,000 deaths and widespread destruction across Gaza.
Jolie, known for her roles in films such as Girl, Interrupted and Tomb Raider, is also a Special Envoy for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, frequently visiting refugee camps and conflict zones.
