Vicky Pattison to tackle 250-mile Newcastle to London charity challenge

Vicky Pattison is set to take on a gruelling Newcastle to London challenge for Global's Make Some Noise charity. The reality TV star's 'Tyne to Thames' journey will see her travel a staggering 250 miles over a five day period.

Challenge details

From Monday, October 5, she will be running, cycling, and kayaking between her home city and the Heart studios in Leicester Square for the mammoth 400km task, going through York, Sheffield, Nottingham, and Leicester, on her way to London on Friday, October 9.

The former Geordie Shore star, and I'm a Celebrity winner, presents Heart on Saturday afternoons, and is taking on the strenuous week for the station's official charity, which funds projects delivered by small charities tackling mental health, disability, poverty and homelessness.

What Vicky says

On the challenge, Vicky, 38, said: "Anyone who knows me knows I’m at my happiest on the sofa, in my comfies, with my dogs, so this is quite literally the opposite of my usual idea of a good time!

"I’m under no illusion that this is going to be tough and there will absolutely be moments where I’m wondering why I’ve done this to myself. But that’s the whole point.

"Global’s Make Some Noise supports these incredible projects, led by small, local charities doing life-changing work, and if I can push myself completely out of my comfort zone, get a few blisters and hopefully raise a load of money along the way, then I’ll consider every ache, mile and paddle absolutely worth it!"

Charity's response

Suzanne Ryder Richardson, the CEO of Global’s Make Some Noise, added: "We’re incredibly grateful to Vicky for taking on this extraordinary challenge for us. ‘Tyne to Thames’ is a huge undertaking, and it speaks so much to Vicky’s determination that she is willing to push herself so far out of her comfort zone to help others.

"Vicky has such a brilliant ability to connect with people through her honesty and humour, and we’ll all be cheering her on as she runs, cycles and kayaks her way from Newcastle to London.

"Donations to Vicky’s challenge will help fund vital projects at the heart of communities across the UK, providing a lifeline for those facing some of life’s toughest challenges.

"We’re so grateful to everyone who is able to get behind Vicky and show their support. Every donation can help change lives and ensure every mile has lasting impact."
