A second 14-year-old boy has been arrested after children were robbed of their bikes in Liverpool city centre. The arrest comes as another 14-year-old has pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery.
Robbery near Playhouse theatre
At around 3.30pm on Thursday, July 23, it was reported that two schoolboys approached another two boys, aged 12 and 13, who were on Giant-branded bikes near the Liverpool Playhouse theatre on Williamson Square. The suspects reportedly made threats as they demanded the bikes, then took them and left the scene.
A 14-year-old from Huyton was arrested and later charged with two counts of robbery. In an update today, August 5, police confirmed he has now pleaded guilty to both offences. He has been remanded and will appear at Liverpool Youth Court on Tuesday, August 25.
Second arrest
Police also confirmed a second boy was arrested yesterday evening. The 14-year-old, from Liverpool, was arrested on suspicion of robbery and attempted robbery. He has been taken to a police station in Merseyside where he remains in custody.

Detective Inspector Lee Egerton said: “Not only do robberies deprive owners of often valuable items, they can be a frightening experience that has a lasting impact on victims.”
“We take all reports extremely seriously and will proactively investigate all incidents to keep our communities safe, and bring offenders to justice.”
