A rogue leopard stormed into a small liquor store in Todaraisingh, Rajasthan, India, on Sunday morning, lunging at two men inside before being locked in by one of the victims.
Attack Details
The incident began at around 8:45am on July 19, when a local forest ranger volunteer was investigating reports of a leopard spotted in nearby bushes. The animal attacked him, then moved into the town and entered a liquor store. Terrifying footage shows 25-year-old salesman Sanjay Gurjar wrestling free from the leopard’s claws and diving over a table to escape. The leopard then wandered the store, taking refuge under a table and nearly knocking over a shelf of bottles. Gurjar managed to lock the cat inside, preventing further harm.
Rescue and Injuries
A rescue team arrived at around 2pm and launched an operation to safely capture the leopard. All three attack victims were taken to hospital: the ranger volunteer was treated and discharged, while the two shop workers were transferred to another facility for further treatment.
Similar Incident in Uttar Pradesh
The attack comes days after an 88-year-old man, Ram Yadav, was killed in his sleep by a leopard in Uttar Pradesh, about 400 miles away. Yadav was asleep on his veranda when the wild cat dragged him toward the woods. His family scared off the leopard with weapons, but Yadav died from severe neck injuries upon arrival at hospital.
