Postman shocked by what people wear to answer the door

Royal Mail postman Reece Petch, who shares his experiences on social media, has revealed that some people answer the door in nothing but their underwear—or even completely naked.

Postman's Shocking Encounters

In a video, Reece said: "We need to talk some serious business right now, ok? I made a video a few months ago talking about, I don't really care what you come to the door in."

He added: "A lot of people feel insecure about wearing their pyjamas, or wearing their comfy clothes when they come to the door, and that's really stupid. You should never feel like that."

However, he cautioned: "I'd be lying if I said some people don't come to the door in nothing."

Recurring Incidents

Reece described a woman who "always answers the door in underwear. Even in the winter." He noted: "She's always done it, and I've just never really, like, thought about it, but [I] delivered to her in the afternoon and she's still doing it, only she does it in the morning."

He also mentioned an elderly man who "genuinely just comes to the door just b***-naked, nothing on at all." Reece said: "[There have been] times where he has come to the door in, like, a t-shirt and just nothing below. He literally looked like Winnie the Pooh."

Reece ended his video with a plea: "If I deliver to you, please don't answer the door naked. Just for everyone's sake."

Public Reaction

Commenters were astonished, with one sharing: "I once had my local postman come up the drive looking like he'd just witnessed a murder... he saw an elderly lady naked." Another said: "I’m also a delivery driver and like 7/10 of the old men only wear underwear."

One person noted: "My postie will always see me in pjs because I work nights so I'm either just going to bed or just getting up." Another added: "I’m really embarrassed if my postie knocks on the door and I’m not showered and dressed. It’s been the same postie for about 20 years, I feel judged."
