Layla, a three-year-old blind rescue dog, has developed a unique way to navigate her surroundings: she stretches her front legs out in front of her to check for walls and obstacles. Despite her disability, she is described as a brave and affectionate dog, but she has spent her entire life in a shelter and is now desperately seeking a forever home.
Rescued from the streets
Layla was rescued as a tiny puppy from the streets of Egypt and has never known the comfort of a family home. Instead, she has lived her whole life in a shelter, where the familiar surroundings are all she has ever known.
Thanks to the patience and dedication of the shelter owner, Layla has made incredible progress and has slowly grown in confidence. She now enjoys spending time with adults and other gentle dogs.
A plea for a patient owner
Rescuers at Miracle's Mission, the organisation caring for Layla, believe that leaving the shelter will be daunting for her. They anticipate it may take considerable time for her to settle and feel secure in a new home. However, they insist that anyone prepared to be patient will find a tender, affectionate dog who simply needs somebody to have faith in her.
Layla is available for adoption through Miracle's Mission and is seeking a peaceful home without children, where she can find her feet in her own time. She could contentedly share her home with another placid dog and would thrive with owners prepared to help her grow in confidence and acquire the skills she has never had the opportunity to develop.
