Police in India have arrested nine suspects after a woman was allegedly gang raped during a home robbery in the Alirajpur district of Madhya Pradesh. One more attacker remains at large.
Attack Details
The incident occurred overnight on Friday, July 10, when men on motorbikes broke into the victim's home. They allegedly robbed the 40-year-old woman and raped her. Superintendent of Police Raghuvansh Kumar Singh confirmed that three additional suspects were arrested on Wednesday, July 22, bringing the total detained to nine.
Stolen Items Recovered
The attackers reportedly stole silver jewellery worth around 28,000 Indian Rupees (£216). Police have recovered the jewellery, as well as two motorbikes and a sharp weapon believed to have been used during the raid. According to ETV Bharat, the attackers also inserted a wooden object into the woman.
Investigation Continues
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) is continuing to investigate the alleged robbery and gang rape. Police are working to track down the final suspect and are appealing to the public for information. All arrested suspects remain in custody and are set to appear in court, accused of robbery and rape.
