A 68-year-old woman has died after being struck by a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) in Glasgow on Tuesday, 23 June, 2026. Emergency services were called to Saracen Street, north of its junction with Allander Street, at around 11:10 am following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and an HGV driven by a 58-year-old man.
Police Scotland confirmed that the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The road was cordoned off, and images showed police, ambulances, and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service in attendance. No arrests have been reported at this stage.
Police Investigation and Appeal
Sergeant Chris McColm of the Road Policing Unit in Glasgow urged witnesses to come forward. He said: 'Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who died. Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing. We urge anyone who witnessed the crash to contact us. We ask any drivers in Saracen Street around the time of the crash to check their dashcam footage and please get in touch if it holds anything which may be relevant to our investigation.'
