Woman, 22, Dies in Skydiving Incident at Nottinghamshire Airfield

Madeleine Rachel Trask, 22, died from head injuries sustained at Langar Airfield, an inquest opening heard. Nottinghamshire Police had previously confirmed on the day that a 22-year-old woman had died in a "skydiving incident" at the site, with officers responding to a call at 12.13pm.

Inquest Details

During the formal opening of an inquest into Ms Trask's death at Nottingham Council House on Thursday, October 15, assistant coroner Karen Boyle stated that Ms Trask was identified to a Nottinghamshire Police officer at the location at 1.54pm, reports Nottinghamshire Live.

A post-mortem examination established a provisional cause of death as head injury, the coroner noted, before extending her "sincere condolences to Madeline's family and friends". The inquest has been adjourned and will reconvene at a date yet to be determined.

Police Response

On the day of the incident, Detective Inspector Rachel Mayfield, of Nottinghamshire Police, commented: "This was a tragic incident, and we are working with partners to understand what happened."

"As our investigations continue at the scene, our thoughts are with the woman's family and everyone else who has been affected by this incident." The young woman was discovered in a neighbouring field and declared dead at the scene, a force spokesperson confirmed at the time.
