A man in northern India has accused his wife of tying him up and torturing him with electric shocks, police said. The alleged incident occurred in the Parsadepur area of Fatehpur district, Uttar Pradesh, on Friday night.
Police Respond to Distress Call
Police received a distress call via the 112 emergency helpline on Saturday morning reporting an injured man in need of assistance. Officers arrived at the scene and found the man, identified as Sanjeev Tiwari, who claimed he had been held captive and assaulted by his wife the previous night.
According to Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Manglik, speaking to ANI: "An incident occurred this morning in Parsadepur under the Aung Police Station jurisdiction, where the 112 emergency service received a report regarding an injured person. Sanjeev Tiwari reported that his wife had tied him up, held him captive, and assaulted him the previous night; he further alleged that she had subjected him to electric shocks using live wires."
Hospital Treatment and Formal Complaint
The injured man was taken to hospital for treatment, where his condition was stabilized. Officers recorded his statement at the hospital. Once his condition improved, his brother submitted a formal complaint against the wife, police said.
Superintendent Manglik added: "Police said they reached the spot immediately after receiving the information. The injured man was first taken to hospital for treatment, and his statement was recorded. Once his condition improved, his brother submitted a formal complaint against the wife."
Wife Taken into Custody
A case has been registered against the woman following the complaint. She has been taken into custody while officers continue their investigation into the allegations. Police have not released further details about the motive or the woman's identity.
