Vigilante Son Jailed: Mum's Ex Attacker Gets 15 Months in UK Court
Vigilante Son Jailed for Attacking Mum's Ex-Partner

A man who took the law into his own hands to avenge his mother has been handed a prison sentence at Warwick Crown Court. Lewis Brooks, 28, launched a brutal and sustained attack on his mother's former partner, leaving the victim with significant injuries.

The court heard how the violent assault was a premeditated act of revenge. Brooks confronted the victim at his home in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, subjecting him to a terrifying ordeal.

A Violent and Sustained Assault

Prosecutor Emily Clewer detailed the shocking event to the court. "The defendant punched the victim repeatedly to the head and body. The attack was so forceful that the victim was knocked to the ground, where Brooks continued his assault by kicking him."

The victim, who wishes to remain anonymous, suffered a catalogue of injuries including bruising, swelling, and severe pain, requiring medical attention in the aftermath of the attack.

Misguided Motives and Legal Consequences

In his defence, Brooks claimed his actions were driven by a desire to protect his mother following the breakdown of her relationship with the victim. However, Judge Anthony Potter was unequivocal in his sentencing remarks.

"This was a sustained assault on a defenseless man. You took the law into your own hands and acted as a vigilante," the judge stated. "The courts exist to deal with disputes. No one is entitled to take the law into their own hands in this way."

Brooks was sentenced to 15 months imprisonment for his crime. The case serves as a stark warning against vigilante justice and the severe legal repercussions that follow.
