Vanessa Trump has reportedly told her boyfriend, Tiger Woods, to "get his s*** fixed" if he wants to save their relationship following the golf star's plea agreement in his DUI case. Earlier this week, Woods appeared at the Martin County Courthouse in Stuart, Florida, accompanied by attorney Douglas Duncan and Trump.
Plea deal details
The 15-time major winner pleaded no contest to reckless driving as part of an agreement with Florida prosecutors following a rollover crash back in March. On March 27, Woods was taken into custody and transported to a police station, where he faced three misdemeanour charges - DUI, property damage and refusal to submit to a urine test - along with a non-criminal traffic infraction for careless driving causing an accident.
Woods initially entered a not guilty plea to the DUI and refusal to submit to a lawful test charges. However, he entered a no-contest plea to the reduced reckless-driving charge and has been banned from driving for five years.
Ultimatum revealed
A source close to the situation revealed that Trump issued a stark ultimatum to Woods, making clear that any further legal troubles or public embarrassment would be the final straw.
"Basically Vanessa has given him an ultimatum. Get his s*** fixed if he wants to be with her," the insider said to the Daily Mail. "She has zero desire to be with anyone who is going to be a project."
The insider continued about Trump's relationship with Woods: "Kids are getting older, she's got more freedom. The last thing she needs is to be the caregiver for a partner."
"She told him she wanted him to get it together, which included putting this all behind him. She was there to support him but she also wants to make sure that this is in the past."
Context and consequences
Following the incident, a Florida judge granted Woods permission to travel overseas for medical treatment, and his private Gulfstream jet was later spotted landing in Zurich, Switzerland.
At the time, Trump was undergoing treatment to battle breast cancer. "You know I love him, but he just wasn't there as much as he could have been for her cancer," the source added.
"He was taking care of his s***, but she needed him to be her rock, and he couldn't be. I can tell you that she was frustrated. Here she is going through cancer treatment, and he's in Switzerland in rehab. That was a fail on his part. He knows it, she knows it."
Under Wednesday's agreement, Woods received a five-year driver's licence suspension and $1,500 in combined fines. "Now he can't drive, but they have so much money it doesn't matter at all," the source said.
"He can hire a driver to take him wherever he needs to go. It's not a hardship. She has told a [mutual friend] that she's committed, but another incident is a deal breaker. Thin ice. It's not that she doesn't love him - she does - but she's not going to be with an addict. She just won't. It's her line in the sand."
A further source suggested that Woods was keen to avoid causing further embarrassment.
They added: "Vanessa has been a rock that he has taken advantage of, but he is now realizing the error in his ways, and he no longer wants to embarrass her, or embarrass her family."
"He doesn't want to be the one that stresses her out, especially while dealing with cancer. She's already going through a lot, so to add to that is not something Tiger is looking to continue with."
"As of right now, he has turned over a new leaf, he is looking forward to starting to play again and he is looking forward to moving on and he would love nothing more than to have all of this in his rear view."
