Stephen Price, a 33-year-old from Winsford, Cheshire, led Dyfed-Powys Police on a high-speed chase reaching over 100mph after initially pulling over near Welshpool, Powys, in March this year. Dashcam footage captured the incident, during which Price accelerated from a layby, reached 94mph in a 30mph zone, crossed double white lines, overtook dangerously, and braked heavily in front of a police vehicle, forcing evasive action to avoid a collision.
Chase and Sentencing
Price eventually abandoned his car and attempted to flee through a field. He was subsequently sentenced for dangerous driving and driving without insurance. The court handed him a 36-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, along with 250 hours of unpaid work and a 12-month driving disqualification.
Police Warning
PC Richard Bufton of Powys’ roads policing unit commented: “No matter the reason choosing not to stop for police and driving dangerously puts everyone at risk. The footage in this clip is shocking and shows the level of Price’s disrespect for other road users when he chose to drive in such an appalling way.” He emphasized the importance of stopping for police and driving carefully.
