Two teenagers are dead and another is fighting for life after a multi-vehicle crash on the A13 in Newham, east London, on Thursday evening. Emergency services were called to the eastbound carriageway at 8.15pm, where a car was engulfed in a fireball following the collision.
Victims and Injuries
Despite the efforts of first responders, two men aged 18 and 19 were pronounced dead at the scene. Three others were taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service. Among them, a 16-year-old boy sustained life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition.
Arrests Made
Three men aged 18, 19, and 23 have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop. They are currently in custody as investigations continue under the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit. The victims' next of kin have been informed.
Appeal for Witnesses
Detective Chief Inspector James Beck from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Our thoughts remain with the victim’s loved ones following this tragic incident. As we work to build a picture of the circumstances, we are keen to hear from any witnesses to the collision – particularly those with dashcam footage.” He added: “We are aware of videos circulating on social media which appear to show the aftermath of the collision. We remind people to be respectful of the impact of this footage and encourage people not share and instead contact police directly if they have information.”
