Tributes to Mum and Two Children Found Dead in Bedford

Tributes have been paid to Zandile Tshuma and her two children, whose bodies were discovered in their family home in Great Denham, Bedfordshire, on Monday. Police forced entry into the £1.3 million property after concerns were raised that the trio had not been seen for several days. Officers have identified a suspect, believed to be known to the victims, who is thought to have fled the country.

Community in Shock

A family friend, who wished to remain anonymous, told the Mirror: “I just hope they find him.” The friend, whose daughter was best friends with the youngest victim, described the suspected murders as “incomprehensible.” Speaking about the children, she said: “Both of them - they were amazing.” When asked about any known problems in the family, she declined to comment, adding: “I am shocked.”

Floral tributes have been left outside the house on Carnoustie Drive. A police forensic team has been seen at the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.

Police Investigation

Bedfordshire Police Assistant Chief Constable John Murphy said on Tuesday: “This is a deeply distressing incident in which a mother and her two children are believed to have been murdered. Our thoughts are first and foremost with all those affected. We recognise that this will cause concern in the local community and beyond. This is the early stages of an incredibly complex investigation.”

ACC Murphy confirmed that a suspect has been identified and is believed to have left the UK. He added: “We are committing all necessary resources to establish what has happened and to find the person responsible. We have identified a suspect, who was known to all three victims, and who we believe has since left the country.” He stressed there is no wider risk to the public but said police presence in the area would be increased to support the investigation and reassure residents.

Background of the Family

The victims are Zandile Tshuma, her husband Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma—who goes by the name Mark—and their two children. The family originally came from Zimbabwe, and the children were born in the UK. Mr. Tshuma, who holds a degree in Computing Informatics from the University of Plymouth, purchased the detached house two years ago for £1.3 million. The property features a swimming pool, four bedrooms, and four bathrooms.

Police are appealing for anyone with information or who saw anything suspicious in Carnoustie Drive on Friday or Saturday to come forward.
