A French tourist has died on the Costa Brava after a boat with up to 12 people on board crashed into the jet ski he was riding with his son.

The tragedy happened in the resort of Roses in Girona at around 4.45pm yesterday afternoon. Police confirmed the man on the jet ski died as a result of the crash.
The victim was a 54-year-old French national. The driver of the boat, also French and aged 52, has been arrested on suspicion of reckless homicide.

Reports indicate the boat had between eight and 12 people on it at the time. Police are investigating the circumstances of the collision.
