A two-year-old child has died after being left inside a hot car in Hallandale Beach, Florida, on Sunday afternoon, police said. The toddler was in the care of a babysitter at the time of the incident.
Details of the Incident
Officers responded to a report of a child inside a vehicle at approximately 1:35 p.m. local time, according to the Hallandale Beach Police Department. Paramedics transported the child to a hospital, where the toddler was pronounced dead, a police spokeswoman confirmed.
Police have not disclosed the exact location where the car was parked or whether any arrests are pending, stating that the investigation “remains in its preliminary stages.”

Temperatures in Hallandale Beach reached 32 degrees Celsius (90 degrees Fahrenheit) on Sunday, with heat indexes approaching 37 degrees Celsius (99 degrees Fahrenheit), according to the National Weather Service. The department emphasized that temperatures inside a parked car can climb to dangerous levels within minutes, even on days that do not feel exceptionally hot.
