A violent street confrontation in Corpus Christi, Texas, turned deadly when a driver deliberately ploughed into a group of people, killing two men in what authorities are treating as a murder investigation.
Shocking mobile phone footage captured the moment a dark-coloured pickup truck accelerated into pedestrians on Saturday night, turning a physical altercation into a fatal tragedy.
Chaotic Scene Turns Deadly
The incident began as a fight between several individuals in a residential neighbourhood. According to Corpus Christi Police Department officials, what started as a physical altercation escalated dramatically when one participant entered their vehicle and used it as a weapon.
"This was not an accident," stated a police spokesperson. "The driver intentionally struck these individuals, and we are treating this as a murder investigation."
Victims Identified Amid Community Shock
The two men killed in the attack have been identified as 23-year-old Nathaniel Aparicio and 21-year-old Joshua Martinez. Both were pronounced dead at the scene despite emergency medical efforts.
Witnesses described scenes of chaos and horror as the truck sped away from the location, leaving the victims with catastrophic injuries. The vehicle was later found abandoned several blocks from the crime scene.
Police Hunt for Suspect
Authorities have launched an intensive manhunt for the driver, who fled the scene on foot after abandoning the truck. Police are examining the recovered vehicle for forensic evidence and reviewing multiple video recordings from the area.
"We have strong evidence and multiple leads," investigators confirmed. "We are urging anyone with information to come forward immediately."
The Corpus Christi community has been left reeling by the brutal nature of the attack, with local residents expressing shock that a neighbourhood dispute could escalate to such fatal violence.
