Two men have been arrested after a 13-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped in Madhya Pradesh's Singrauli district, India. The girl, who had been sitting alone outside a hospital, was taken by the men and assaulted, according to police.
Incident Details
The incident is said to have taken place on Tuesday evening. Police were told by the girl's mother that her daughter was sitting alone outside a hospital around 7 pm when two men forced her to go with them. The two men were reportedly associated with a power company in the area.
Police said that the girl was allegedly taken to a riverside, where she was assaulted by the men and kept overnight. She was then allegedly left near the hospital the following morning, and her family reported the incident to the police.
Arrests and Legal Action
Arrests were made by a special investigations team. The case has been registered by local police under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), as well as sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
The accused men appeared before a local court and remain in judicial custody. Police have said that further investigations are underway.
