The incident comes weeks after Declan Sawyer, 15, died after getting into trouble in the water on May 24. A file will be passed to the coroner in this latest case.
Local Councillor's Warning
Councillor Jamie Cave, who represents Birchwood for Reform, said: "Last night’s incident is deeply worrying and my thoughts are with the young person involved, their family and everyone affected by what happened. I would like to thank Lincolnshire Police, Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, East Midlands Ambulance Service and all those involved for their swift response and professionalism. During periods of hot weather, it is understandable that people look for ways to cool off, but open water can present hidden dangers that are not always obvious from the surface. I would encourage all residents, particularly young people and families, to take note of the water safety advice from the emergency services and think carefully before entering lakes and other areas of open water. Birchwood and the surrounding areas are a strong community, and looking out for one another is especially important during times like this. I hope for the best possible outcome for those involved and would ask everyone to continue supporting each other and staying safe."
