Police have confirmed that the death of 35-year-old Stacy Mair, who was found dead alongside her husband at a remote cottage in Renfrewshire, is being treated as murder.
The death of her husband, Jim Mair, 43, remains unexplained. Officers have stated there is nothing to suggest anyone else was involved.
Discovery of the bodies
Around 7.50am on Monday, 27 July 2026, police received a report of concern for a person in the Corsliehill Road area of Houston. Emergency services attended and found the bodies of a woman and a man nearby.
A post-mortem examination on Jim Mair will take place in due course.
Investigation and community impact
Detectives from Police Scotland's Major Investigation Team, along with local officers, continue extensive enquiries to establish the full circumstances. At this time, there is no risk to the public.
