Sky News was interrupted for a breaking news update on the fatal car crash on the A66 near Middlesbrough. Presenter Leah Boleto announced the names of the five young men who died in the incident, which also killed two police officers.

Leah Boleto said: "Interrupting that programme for some breaking news and it's in relation to that fatal crash on the A66. We now have the names of the five young men who were in that car who also lost their lives."

The presenter confirmed that Michael Robert Cahill, 23, Theo Rae, 17, Cole Robert Worthy, 17, Jakub Matusiak, 23, and Makai Saddington, 18, were killed in the crash.

Details of the incident

Seven people, including two police officers, were killed in the collision involving a police vehicle and a Volkswagen Passat on the A66. The five boys were driving in the Volkswagen at the time of the crash.
