A second teenager has died following a suspected e-bike fire in Blackpool, bringing the death toll to two. Joey Gregory, 19, succumbed to catastrophic brain injuries sustained in the blaze that occurred on June 30 at Redcar Road. His death came days after 13-year-old Coby Keogh also died from injuries suffered in the same fire.

Family's Heartbreaking Tribute

Joey's mother, Sally, announced the devastating news on Facebook. She wrote: "Later today we are going to say our final goodbyes to our wonderful son Joey Gregory. His brain injuries are too catastrophic for him to survive." She revealed that the family consented to organ donation, and Joey had opted in at age 17. "They have found four recipients to receive Joey's kidneys, liver, pancreas and his big beautiful heart," she said, adding that this eased their pain.

Sally described Joey as a "hero" and asked for prayers that "our boys final duty is successful." She also requested strength for her daughter Mia Rose. Joey's father Harry paid tribute: "Rest in peace my little blue eyed boy… I'll love and miss you forever.. Now it's time to do God's work."

Details of the Fire

Emergency services were called to Redcar Road at around 9:37 am on June 30. Coby Keogh died five days later. Before Joey's death, Sally had shared updates on his fight for life, noting that doctors had initially said the first 24-48 hours were critical. Three other people in the property suffered minor injuries.

Investigation and Community Support

Lancashire Police and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service are investigating. Officers believe the fire was started by an e-bike, with no evidence of third-party involvement. A GoFundMe page for Joey's family has raised over £11,600 in donations.
