Scots dad targeted by Tommy Robinson after false child filming accusation
Scots dad targeted by Tommy Robinson over false accusation

A Scots father of three was forced to flee a Glasgow park after anti-immigration protesters falsely accused him of filming their children. The incident, which occurred on July 12, 2026, at Richmond Park in the Gorbals area, has since escalated into a vicious online hate campaign led by far-right influencer Tommy Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon.

Confrontation at the Park

Quroum, 43, a fourth-generation Scot, was playing with his children at the park around 9pm when a large group of protesters arrived. He told Glasgow Live: "I was at Richmond park with my children and other families - a lot of people were out. All of a sudden we saw this helicopter hover past, and then all these folk started walking towards the park. People wearing balaclavas and holding banners."

He described the atmosphere as threatening, with many families quickly leaving. "It's quite a multicultural area, so a lot of the families in the park felt threatened and quickly ran away to their houses. People packed up their picnics, there were children out playing with chalk and stuff like that, and they all cleared up and ran away," he said.

Standing His Ground

After taking his children home, Quroum returned to the park to record the protesters, who were chanting "our streets." He said: "Something came over me, and I was like 'I can't just walk away'. I'm fourth generation here. I'm born here. Everybody else is scared to stand up to this, but I'm not. So I said to them, 'I see you. Just keep on walking'." He sat on a swing in the playpark as protesters filmed him.

Online Harassment by Tommy Robinson

A clip of Quroum on the swing was posted online by protesters and then shared by Tommy Robinson with the caption: "Another invader hanging around a park filming children." The video has amassed over 118,000 views on X and over 1,500 reshares, with a flood of racist comments. Police Scotland later confirmed that the claims Quroum had filmed children were "completely inaccurate."

Fear and Determination

The following morning, Quroum was confronted by some protesters who shouted further abuse. He now fears for the safety of his wife and three children, aged 11, eight, and one. Despite the threats, he is determined to take a stand. "I feel fearful for my safety, but I wasn't prepared for the way the protestors would change the narrative and how it has changed into something else online. But at the same time, I need to see this through and take a stand. I'm fourth generation [Scottish], my kids are fifth generation. If I'm not going to stand up for myself and make a point, then who is?"

Police Response

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were made aware of protest activity in the Cathcart Road area of Glasgow around 8.45pm on Sunday, July 12. Officers attended and those gathered later dispersed. There were no arrests."
