Fresh and harrowing details have been released concerning the deaths of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered in their Los Angeles home earlier this month.
Official Cause of Death Released
The couple's death certificates, issued by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and obtained by outlets including TMZ, provide a stark account of their final moments. The cause of death for both individuals is listed as "multiple sharp force injuries," with the circumstances categorised as "homicide" and "with knife, by another."
The documents state that Rob Reiner's body was found at 15:45 on Sunday, 14 December, with Michele Singer Reiner's discovered just one minute later at 15:46. Critically, the interval between the onset of the attack and death is recorded as "minutes." The precise time and date of death, however, are noted as "unknown."
Memorial Plans and Legal Proceedings
In the wake of the tragedy, two of the Reiners' children have issued a new statement. "Jake and Romy Reiner remain grateful for the outpouring of love and support they have received," it read. "They will share information about a memorial service honouring their parents at a later date."
The certificates list the "type of disposition" as "cremate/residence," though it is not yet confirmed if cremation has taken place.
Meanwhile, the couple's son, Nick Reiner, appeared in court on 17 December. He did not enter a plea and is scheduled to return for an arraignment hearing on 7 January.
A Community in Mourning
The release of these official details confirms the violent nature of the incident that has shocked the Brentwood community and beyond. As the family prepares to say a final goodbye at a planned memorial service, the legal process is set to continue into the new year.
