Russian state TV propagandists have discussed wiping a British city "off the face of the earth" and targeting the UK's Trident submarine base in a chilling broadcast.
The debate advocating atomic strikes against the UK was hosted by Vladimir Putin's chief TV mouthpiece, Vladimir Solovyov, alongside pro-war pundit Igor Markov.
Hosts propose targets
Viewers were told Moscow should obliterate Britain's Trident base, which relies on four Vanguard-class nuclear-powered ballistic-missile submarines. Solovyov asked: "Which city do you like the least? Which city should be wiped off the face of the earth?"
Fugitive Ukrainian former MP Markov replied: "I don't think we need to wipe out a city. We need to wipe out a military base-preferably a British one, along with all its submarines."
Weapons discussed
Solovyov, who the Express reports is paid a millionaire's salary by the Russian state's TV empire to pump out Putin's propaganda, said: "We have two options - Sarmat, [aka Satan-2, Russia's largest nuclear strike weapon], and Poseidon," [a high-speed underwater atomic drone].
Markov suggested unleashing Burevestnik on Britain. The missile system, which is still in testing, is nicknamed the Flying Chernobyl, because it has its own nuclear reactor. It is viewed by critics as likely to be unsafe and accident-prone.
Anti-UK rhetoric
Reflecting the Moscow view that the UK is Putin's most vocal Western enemy, Markov said: "Our main adversary, our centuries-old enemy, the ones who have driven everyone to the end of their tether...You know, it's all those British *******s. They're doing all of this on purpose."
It follows a previous warning that a Russian attack on Britain is "inevitable" as Putin is furious with the UK for its continued support of Ukraine.
The Russian tyrant is said to be angered by Ukraine's use of British-made missiles in its fightback against Russia's invasion. Kremlin mouthpiece Andrei Fedorov insisted Britain could face a "a semi-military response" from "unknown sources".
The former deputy foreign minister said last month: "It could take the form of something might happen with enterprises, with factories which are producing drones for Ukraine."
