Elizabeth Siders, the Ohio mother of 16 children found living in squalid conditions, gave birth to conjoined twin girls in 2022 who died hours after delivery, according to state vital statistics records obtained by WOWK 13.
Birth of Conjoined Twins
Siders, 33, delivered daughters Bailey Lee and Faith Lee Siders at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, on November 20, 2022. The babies were born at 24 weeks' gestation with thoracopagus, a condition where their faces and chests were fused. Records state they died later that same day of natural causes.
Arrests and Charges
In June 2026, Elizabeth Siders, her husband Gary Siders Jr., and his parents Gary Siders Sr. and Christina Siders were arrested at their home in Vinton County. Authorities found 16 children aged one to 18 living in a 12x12-foot room smeared with human feces. All four face 16 felony counts of child endangerment. They pleaded not guilty and were granted $300,000 bail each.
Conditions of the Home
Vinton County Sheriff Ryan Cain described the residence as "disgusting," stating the children had been restricted to one room for nearly four years. "Most of our livestock was kept in better conditions than the children," Cain said. Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson said the stench of the home lingered with him and called the scene "pure evil."
Developmental Impact
Some children could not speak or had limited speech. None were enrolled in school. The eldest, an 18-year-old developmentally disabled girl, could not spell her own name. Wilson remarked, "Some of these children couldn't even speak. It was terrible. They looked like almost feral animals."
Background
The family had relocated around Ohio before settling in Vinton County about four years ago. The property was held in a trust. The couple's oldest child was born two months after their marriage. Other children include twins aged 4, 2, and 1, as well as children aged 16, 15, 14, 13, 11, 10, 8, 6, and 5.
