Andreas Schjelderup has taken aim at the referee after Norway's World Cup exit, calling some decisions "a bit bitter." The Norwegians were eliminated by England in the quarter-finals, losing 2-1 after extra time.
Controversial Equaliser
Jude Bellingham scored twice for England, including an equaliser late in the first half. Norway claimed the ball had struck one of the cables holding the camera above the pitch before the goal, which should have stopped play under FIFA rules. However, FIFA rejected calls to rule out the goal.
Schjelderup said: "Unfortunately the margins were against us, the odds were against us. Some decisions by the referee were a bit bitter. If we lost fully it would have been a bit different."
Disallowed Goal
In the second half, Erling Haaland was penalised for a foul, leading to Torbjorn Heggem's strike being disallowed. Norway captain Martin Odegaard said: "We didn't get much help from the referee. The margins went against us and we had a bit of bad luck."
Manager's Reaction
Norway manager Stale Solbakken acknowledged the fine margins: "I feel sorry for the lads. This is top level sports at its best or its most gruesome. We were lucky against Brazil, today we were not so lucky. We had margins go in our favour against Brazil, but not today."
