Mum Charged with Murder After Blaming Vaccines for Twins' Deaths
Mum Charged with Murder Over Twins' Vaccine Deaths

Andrea Shaw, a mother from Payette, Idaho, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the May 2025 deaths of her 18-month-old twin sons, Dallas and Tyson. Prosecutors allege Shaw suffocated the children, contradicting her earlier claims that the boys died from adverse reactions to routine childhood vaccines.

Arrest and Charges

Shaw was arrested last week and is being held on a $2 million bond, according to court records. The arrest came five days after she gave birth to her third child via Caesarean section. If convicted, she faces life in prison or the death penalty. The Payette Police Department stated that the arrest was the result of a lengthy and thorough investigation, declining further comment on the evidence as the judicial process proceeds.

Defense and Legal Claims

Shaw's attorney, Joe Filicetti, maintains her innocence, stating, “It’s been 14 months and our position has been the same all along, that she did nothing to cause the death of these two children. She followed the vaccine schedule and they were having vaccine reactions.” The defense argues the deaths were a tragic medical outcome, not a crime.

Anti-Vaccine Advocacy and Lawsuit

Days after the twins' deaths, Shaw and her husband, Nathaniel, appeared on a show produced by Children’s Health Defense, an anti-vaccine group. They subsequently filed a lawsuit against the American Academy of Pediatrics, accusing the organization of racketeering and promoting unsafe vaccines. The suit alleges the Academy played a “central role in an enterprise that has defrauded American families about the safety of the childhood vaccine schedule for several decades.” Shaw stated she “did not previously hold anti-vaccine views” and described her twins as “normal, perfect, happy little babies” the day before their vaccinations.

Autopsy Findings and Ongoing Case

Multiple autopsies have been performed since the twins' deaths. Shaw tearfully recounted being told the cause was asphyxiation, with authorities suggesting a postpartum blackout led her to harm her children. “They said that it wasn’t medical and that they figured asphyxiation and that I had supposedly had a postpartum overwhelming blackout and done it to my children,” she said. “It made me feel crazy.” The case remains ongoing.
