An 11-year-old girl from Monmouth has suffered life-changing injuries in a crash in Devon and was airlifted to hospital.
Police and paramedics were called at 12.40pm on Thursday to the A30 eastbound near the village of Tedburn St Mary in Devon. A Volkswagen Polo and a Ford Ranger were involved in the collision.
In total, three children and one adult have been hospitalised. Devon and Cornwall Police said the girl, who was travelling in the VW Polo, remains at Bristol Children's Hospital.
Other casualties
The female driver and two children from the same car were taken to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital with minor injuries. The force said the woman remained in hospital on Friday afternoon and all the casualties are from Monmouth.
Officers from the Roads Policing Team closed the A30 following the incident, and it fully reopened in both directions at 8.40pm.
Appeal for witnesses
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
